cations are smaller in size than the corresponding atoms why?.

In cations an atom looses electrons so atomic size of parent atom decrease. it can also be explained by this: cations are deficient in electrons. so protons exert more force of attraction on electrons and pull them towards it. thus atomic size decreases.
