Red tides is a phenomena caused by dinoflagellates

They are a type of algal bloom

They change the characteristic colour of the sea into red,thus the name Red Tides. This is because they multiple and propagate at a very fast rate,causing the change in colour of the water body they are breeding in.

When they do so,they reduce the oxygen levels in water body and releasing toxic substances which endanger the life of the aquatic fauna
