There are many reasons why world war 1 begin. Countries had already began to militarize Other problems were politics, secret alliances, imperialism, and nationalistic pride. France wanted some territory back from Germany. Germany wanted too expand and the Ottoman and the Austrian-Hungarian empires wanted the Balkan regions back. Everything just needed one thing to go wild and then it happened. On June 28, 1914, Franz Ferdinand was killed. Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia. Germany was an ally of Austria- Hungary and Serbia was protected by Russia, who was friends with France. So they all declared war on each other. Germany knew Russia was big so it will take time for them to gather their army, so they will attack France and knock it out and then invade Russia. France had forts along its border So Germany went around them through Belgium. Britain got mad that Germany was attacking neutral countries so it joined the war too. This war had many major events. Germany was winning first but then when the U.S joined the war they begin being pushed back. Almost all countries went to the brink of collapse. Russia fell into communism. In Germany the Kaiser abdicated. Later Austria-Hungary was dissolved and the Ottoman Empire collapsed and Turkey was formed. After this Britain was still a military superpower but the U.S had become an economic superpower.
