causes of french revolution :-
- the French society was divided into 3 estates. first two estates enjoyed all types of privileges and they were exempted from paying tax while the people of 3rd estate had to pay all the taxes and they didn't enjoy any special privilege.
- louis VII experienced an empty treasury since he wasted all his money in wars and living luxurious life. so he increased taxes and taxes were payed by the people of 3rd estate only.
- this led to a wide gap between rich and poor. the poor people were becoming poorer day by day and the rich ones richer day by day.
- the population of France increased from 21 million to 28 million. hence the food demand increased and the price of all goods increased. this led to subsistence crisis.
- some philosophers also motivated people to start revolution against them. they started writing newspapers and magazines. and people were motivated from them and started revolution.
the first french revolution held in 1789.
