Literally, depression are the feelings of severe despondency and dejection.
In psychology, the term depression is the super frustration and super sadness with loss of hope and it could be such severe that it could be life changing. Depression can be mainly caused by life changing events like Breaking apart from your love partner, can be caused be over and over frustration in professional lfe causing loss of hope in person's mind, etc. Such big events that result to great loss of hope and frustration is depression. Most of the time it is seen in the people who had suffered a real unfair situation or loss in love life.
