Given : Cecilia buys a sack of potatoes and takes it to the market to sell.

In the first hour she sells a quarter of the bag for S / 1.50 per kilo.

Then, in the second hour, she sells two-thirds of the rest of it for S / 1.20, leaving her with 24 kilos.

she kept selling what was left at S / 1.10 per kilo

 the bag of potatoes cost her S / 98.90,

To Find :  how much did she earn

Solution:

bag of potatoes cost her S / 98.90,

=> CP = 98.90 S

In the first hour she sells a quarter of the bag = (1/4) * 100 = 25 kg

S 1.50 per kilo.   Hence SP = 1.5 * 25  = 37.5 S

Rest = 100 -- 25 = 75 kg

in the second hour, she sells two-thirds of the rest of it

= (2/3) 75 = 50 kg

S / 1.20 per kilo   SP = 1.2 * 50  = 60 S

Remaining = 100 - 25 - 50  = 25 kg

S / 1.10 per kilo   => SP = 1.1 * 25  = 27.5  S

Total SP  = 37.5 +  60 + 27.5  = 125 S

CP = 98.90 S

Profit = 125  - 98.90  =   26.1  S

she earned = 26.1 S
