cell organelle and structure of cell
Answers
Answer:
A small organ-like structure present inside the cell is called a cell organelle
Each organ is further made up of smaller parts called tissues. A tissue is a group of similar cells performing a specific function. The basic components of a cell are cell membrane, cytoplasm and nucleus. The cytoplasm and nucleus are enclosed within the cell membrane, also called the plasma membrane. The membrane separates cells from one another and also the cell from the surrounding medium. The plasma membrane is porous and allows the movement of substances or materials both inward and outward.
The boundary of the onion cell is the cell membrane covered by another thick covering called the cell wall. The central dense round body in the centre is called the nucleus.
The jelly-like substance between the nucleus and the cell membrane is called cytoplasm. There is an outer thick layer in cells of plants called cell wall. This additional layer surrounding the cell membrane is required by plants for protection. Plant cells need protection against variations in temperature, high wind speed, atmospheric moisture etc. They are exposed to these variations because they cannot move.
⇒ All living cells have the same structural organisation with a few changes in plants and animals cells. The basic structure of a cell includes a cell membrane or plasma membrane, cytoplasm and nucleus.
⇒ Cell membrane or plasma membrane :- It is a thin, elastic membrane surrounding the cell. It protects the cell and it a shape. It is semipermeable, which means it selectively allows the materials to go in and out of the cell. All the material of the cell that is enclosed by the cell membrane is called the protoplasm.
⇒ Cell Wall :- It is present only in plant cells. It is an extra layer present outside the cell membrane. Plants are fixed in one place, have to face unfavourable conditions and do not have any skeleton for support. The cell wall provides rigidity and protection to the plant cells. It is made up of cellulose.
