Explanation: STAINING- for better visualisation and to study shapes, structure etc staining is used. Most commonly used stain is gram stain.

Distinguish: 1) After applying gram stain if bacteria appears voilet then it is a gram positive .

2) Voilet stained bacteria is then called as gram positive bacteria.

1) After applying gram stain if bacteria appears pink then it is gram negative.

2) pink stained bacteria is then called as gram negative bacteria.
