✓ Theodor Schwann
✓ M . J. Schleiden
✓ Rudolf Virchow
- All cells arise from pre - existing cells.
- Every living organisms is made up of cells.
- Cell is the basic unit of life.
The first two points were added earlier by Theodor Schwann and MJ Schleiden.
The last point was added by Rudolf Virchow in 1855.
They had proved that cells came from pre-existing cells that is event of mitosis and meiosis or other cellular reproduction occured.
They also mentioned that all the living things including the from the smallest bacteria to the largest animal that is the blue whale is made up of cells which form tissues , organ systems , organs organism.
It is said that cells are the basic structural and functional unit of life as they are the smallest living structures and can do all there necessary functions like digestion, reproduction nutrition ,etc. on their own.
