The cell wall of fungi is made of chitin.

This statement is true.

This is a carbohydrate polymer that is a long chain.

Chemically it is a polymer of N-acetyl muramic acid and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine.

The glucans and glycoproteins are all linked together.

This makes the thin cell walls of the fungi rigid.

The cell wall of the fungi is made up of Chitin.

The polymers are mainly found in the unbranched chain of beta - (1, 4) - linked – N – Acetylglucosamine in the Ascomycota and Basidiomycota.

Or there are poly- beta – (1, 4) – N – Acetylglucosamine (chitosan) in the Zygomycota.

They both are synthesized and extruded at the plasma membrane.
