Cell was a discovery made by Robert Hooke. How did he achieve it? Why was it not possible before he discovered it?

Robert Hooke discovered cell using the primitive microscope. It was not possible to discover it before this as cells are not visible to a naked eye and can only be seen through a magnifying lens.

first he saw the Onion cell under the microscope after he thought it is useful to see small structures and made it as cell.
before it was not possible Because it is not possible to see simplest structures with naked eye and microscope was discovered by him to see that structures
