Cell was a discovery made by Robert Hooke. How did he achieve it? Why was it not possible before he discovered it?

Cells were discovered by Hooke using his primitive microscope. Since cells are not visible to a naked eye, they can only be seen through a magnifying lens. Hence it was not possible for them to be discovered before.

Because before Robert Hooke there is not microscope. Robert Hooke first discovered simple microscope and from this microscope he first discovered cork cell.
