➡️The cell was first discovered and named by Robert Hooke in 1665. He remarked that it looked strangely similar to cellula or small rooms which monks inhabited, thus deriving the name. However what Hooke actually saw was the dead cell walls of plantcells (cork) as it appeared under themicroscope.

Hey Mate,
Cells are too small to be seen with the naked eye.Before the discovery of microscope,a detail study of the basic unit of an organism was nearly impossible.
After the invention of microscope,the detail study of a corks dead cells were the first step taken in the discovery of the basic stractural and functional unit of living organisms.
