This is because as a cell can exist on its own but these organelles are interdependent on the other organelles. The cell is not dependent on other cell. The cell can reproduce like a living thing but these organelles can't reproduce. So I think this is the reason for why only cells are called as fundamental unit of life.

That is because only 1 or two organelles cannot perform the vital functions of life(i.e.assimilation of vital nutrients for proper functioning of the body and fulfilling its energy requirements).
All the organelles in a cell work together to function as a ‘unit’ which helps to maintain our body in living state.
Like assimilation of glucose is done by Glycolysis, Kreb’s cycle and ETS all of which take place in different parts of the cell.
