in Multicellular organisms, cells have dual existence, one as an individual cell and other as a member of the community. For example in multi cellular organisms all cells do not perform all the activities rather they get specialized to perform different functions, which as called as division of labour. just as the heart pumps the blood with help of muscle cells, A Nerve impulse is transmitted by a series of nerve cells. Thus each cell plays a dual role as an individual and as a member.
