In cell biology and pathophysiology, cellularadaptation refers to changes made by a cellin response to adverse environmental changes. The adaptation may be physiologic(al) (normal) or pathologic(al) (abnormal). Five minor types of adaptation include atrophy, hypertrophy, hyperplasia, dysplasia, and metaplasia.
