The 1st stanza : This informs the readers about the envies of the writer. The writer tells us that he is envious about the wealthy peoples staying in luxuries living in their own houses with security for him.

The writer otherwise feels uncomfortable for living with strangers who have shown their half-heated consent stay him with them.

This condition is not changing very soon and he has to continue their few more days.

The 2nd stanza : It says what the homeless narrator wishes would happen to him in the future.

The narrator wishes to have a place of his own from where he will look at the changing society.

He wishes to continue there with complete peace of mind still his death after which although his belongings will be won by the strangers.

The poem homeless is written by Vikram Seth. In this poem the poet is jealous of those people those who are blessed and have a secured and blessed future because they have their own house. He is envy of those who can say that they rest on what they have they own it and feel possession and security that comes from their place. Those who have their own house are not supposed to live on any others place, live at a rented place and used to switch places the poet says that from last few years he used to switch places and will repeat in future.

The poet says that may be in future he will be having his own house made of brick and cement. From there he could view seasons . He will not have to move from place to place to view the change of seasons. When the time comes of end office life and peacefully die at his place because it will not go in a stranger's hand but remain with the people whom he loved.
