Given :- Certain men can do a work in 75 days. if there were 8 more men, it could be done in 15 days. How many men were there in the beginning ?

Solution :-

Let us assume that, there were x men in the beginning .

Then,

  • x men can do a work in 75 days.
  • (x + 8) men can do same work in 15 days.

So,

Total work = 75 * x or , 15(x + 8) .

comparing work now, as it is same in both case.

→ 75x = 15(x + 8)

→ 75x = 15x + 120

→ 75x - 15x = 120

→ 60x = 120

→ x = (120/60)

→ x = 2 men.

Hence, there were 2 men in the beginning .
