growth  can not be taken as defining character of living because there are many non living things which shows growth due to accumulation of materials on their surfaces for example mountain . This type of groeth is called extrinsic growth.

If we talk about reproduction so there are no non living things which show reproduction but there are some living organisms which can not reproduce

like sterile human couples , worker bees , mules.
