Given:

A certain sum of money lent ar 10% p.a for 4 years yields thrice as much interest as ₹ 5600 in 7/2 years at 12% p.a

TO find:

The sum in the first case.

Solution:

Let the sum of the principle is ₹X

and we know that the simple interest for any of the principle is given by:

SI = PRT/100

Here in the first case:

P = X

R = 10%

T = 4 years

SI = PRT/100

SI = X×10×4/100

In the second case;

P = ₹5600

R = 12%

T = 7/2 years

SI' = PRT/100

SI' = 5600×12×7/2×100

As per the condition of the question

SI = 3SI'

X×10×4/100 = 3( 5600×12×7/2×100)

X = ₹17640

Hence, The principle is ₹17640
