Q.1:plastic containers seem more convenient than metal containers. This is because of their light weight, lower price, good strenght and easy handling

Q.2:We should avoid on some things like water bottle, box, etc

but we also need it on some purposes

I know only up to this.

Sorry

Que.1 explain why plastic containers are favoured for storing food?

Food is stored in plastic containers cause:

  • It is light in weight.
  • It does not rust.
  • It is easy to handle.
  • It is reusable.
  • It is non reactive.

Que.2 Avoid plastics as far as possible. Comment on this advice?

Plastics should be avoided cause :-

  1. They cause many health and environmental hazards.
  2. Some monomers of plastics have proven to cause cancer.
  3. Plastics are non- biodegradable and do not decompose for several years.
  4. When plastics are burnt, toxic fumes are released into the atmosphere causing air pollution.
  5. Due to dumping of plastics near water bodies, they react with water chemically and cause problems for aquatic animals.
  6. On earth they are causing floods and polluting soil.
  7. When plastics are burnt, they release toxic gases and cause air pollution.
  8. Animals eat polythene covers packed with food that causes indigestion and finally results in their death.

You observe that certain materials can break down into smallerfragmentsin the presence of water, sunlight and oxygen.

These fragments get further broken down by bacteria. This is called decomposition.

Que.3 Manufacturing synthetic fibres is actually helping conservation of forests. comment.

synthetic fibres are made from petroleum based chemicals or petrochemicals.

The fibres which are obtained from nature i.e., from animals and plants are called natural fibres.

Some of the examples of natural fibres are Cotton, Jute, Silk, Wool, etc,.

All natural fibres are used for making fabrics, which are further used for making clothes.

Here, if we use synthetic fibres there is no need of cutting trees. By this, We can conserve forests.

Que.4 Give examples which indicate that nylon fibres are very strong.

  • Ans - Nylon is strong, elastic and light in weight. So, it is popular for making clothes.

  • It has ability to be lustrous, semi lustrous or non lustrous.

  • It is highly resistant to insects, fungi, animals, chemicals, etc.

  • As we know that nylon has high strength. Due to this property, it is used for making fishing nets, parachutes, bags, ropes, tyre cords, car seat belts, tooth brush bristles, etc.

  • It is used for making fabrics. It is used in the production of textiles like sarees, shirts, neck-ties, socks and other garments.

  • It is also used in the making of swim suits, sheer hosiery, sails, umbrella cloth, car seats, sleeping bags, etc.

  • It is used in the manufacture of various machine parts.

Que.5 Give examples to show that plastics are non corrosive in nature.

  • Plastic is very light, strong, durable and can be moulded into different shapes and sizes. Plastics are generally cheaper than metals.

  • Do not rust and do not react.
