First change the dimensions into dm

1m = 10dm

then find the area of the verandah

after that find the area of stones

then divide area of verandah by area of stones.

l = 40m = 400dm

b = 15m = 150dm

area = 400 x 150

        = 60,000 sq.dm

area of the stones = 6 x 5

                               = 30 sq.dm

no.of stones required = 60,000/30

                                    = 2,000
