Product formed will be -

BrCH2-CH2-NO2

•Nitro substitute on carbon chain is electron withdrawing species.

•Thus it will attract electron towards itself, causing high electron density over -CH part.

•Thus, since -CH will have negative charge, hydrogen will bind here and Br will bind at positive charge present at CH2.

•Hence, product formed will be -

BrCH2-CH2-NO2.

•The reaction proceedings in this reaction are against Markonikoff's rule, due to presence of electron withdrawing group.
