CH3-O-C3H7 has total 4 carbon atoms .and also C2H5-O-C2H5 also has total 4 carbon atoms. but as oxygen is divalent and in both molecules oxygen surrounded by different alkyl groups. it is called mesmeric isomerism or metamerism.
