A reaction called as Dehalogenation takes place when CH3CH2CH2Br or   1-Bromopropane (Alkyl halide/Haloalkane) is reacted with alcoholic KOH, this lead to the formation of 1-Propanol (an alcohol) and Potassium Bromide.

CH3CH2CH2Br + KOH(alcoholic)-------> CH3CH2CH2OH + KBr
