A homologous series is the one in which the members have a same general formula and the consecutive members de
offer from each other by 14 a.m.u. or an Alkyl radicle (CH2).
Here, CH4 and C3H8 both have the same generations formula of Alkane i.e., C(n)H(2n+2).
Taking n=1, we get CH4
Taking n=3, we get C3H8.
Therefore, they are members of same homologous series.
