----------------------------------------

Here is the solution:

----------------------------------------

Weight of the chalk = 1 kg = 1000g

10% calcium = 10% of 1000g = 0.1 x 1000 = 100g

3% carbon = 3% x 1000g = 0.03 x 1000 = 30g

12% oxygen = 12% x 1000g = 0.12 x 1000 = 120g

Answer: 1 kg of chalk has 100g of calcium,  30g of carbon and 120g of oxygen.
