Solution

Let the required sum be RS 100

then \: si \:  =  \: rs \: (100 \times 12 \times 3 \times  \frac{1}{100 } \\  = rs \: 36.

Amount = Rs (100+36) = RS 136

If amount is Rs 136, then sum= RS 100.

if \: amount \: is \: rs \: 1 \: then \: sum \: rs \:  \\  \frac{100}{136}  \times 4590 = rs3375.

Hence, the required sum is Rs 3375.

Alternative Method

Let the required sum be x.

then \: si \:  =  \: rs \: (x \times  \frac{12}{100}  \times 3) = rs \\  \frac{9x}{25} .

amount \:  = rs \: (x +  \frac{9x}{25} ) = rs \:  \frac{34x}{25}

But, amount= Rs 4590 (given).

therefore \:  \frac{34x}{25}  = 4590

 = x = (4590 \times  \frac{25}{34}

 = x = 3375

Hence, the required sum is Rs 3375.
