Here is a mathematical quiz to solve.

A man gave a cheque to his servant and asked to get it encashed from bank. Cheque was for few rupees and paisas ( Rs.ab.xy).

बैंक कै्शियर ने गलती से चैक में जितने रुपए थे, उतने पैसे और जितने पैसे थे, उसकी जगह उतने रुपए नौकर को दे दिए। (Means, cashier gave give Rs. xy.ab. in place of Rs. ab.xy).

On the way to home, नौकर ने उसी पैसों मे से 20 पैसे की बीङी पी ली। और बाकी सारे पैसे मालिक को लाकर दे दिए।

मालिक ने पैसे गिने तो देखा कि
Amount brought by servant was exactly double the amount written in the cheque.

Now question is *WHAT WAS THE AMOUNT OF THE CHEQUE*

Given :  A man gave a cheque to his servant and asked to get it encashed from bank. Cheque was for few rupees and paisas

To find : WHAT WAS THE AMOUNT OF THE CHEQUE

Solution:

Amount on cheque  = C . D  Rs

= C  Rs  + D paise

= 100C + D   Paise

Amount given by cashier

= D.C rs

= 100D  + C  Paise

Paise spent by servant = 20

remaining  =  100D  + C   - 20  Paise

100D  + C   - 20  =  2 (  100C + D )

=>  98D - 199C  =  20

As Amount was double + 20 Paise  Hence only two possibilities

D =  2C or 2C + 1

Case 1  :

D = 2C

=> 196C - 199C = 20  

=> -3C = 20  ( not possible)

Case 1  :

D = 2C + 1

98(2C + 1) - 199C  = 20

=> 196C + 98 - 199C = 20

=> -3C = -78

=> C = 26

D = 2 * 26 + 1 = 53

Cheque Amount = Rs  26  53 Paise

26.53 Rs
