Challenge :-

Topic : Sample Space Diagrams.
Grade : 8

Q U E S T I O N :-

One fair spinner has three sections marked with the numbers 1, 2 and 3.
Another pair spinner have five sections marked with the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

a) Draw a sample space diagram to show all the possible outcomes.

b) Work out the probability of scoring:

i) two 2s
ii) two odd numbers
iii) a total of 5

➝ Look at the number 2 on line x, look straight to the first +, then look down and we can see that its 1. then look at the second +, We can see that the number is 2. Now, circle the second +. You got your answer.

ii) 2 odd numbers .

 \:

➝ Here we have to find out two odd numbers. When you look at the numbers on line x, 3 and 1 are odd numbers. When you look at the numbers on line y : 1, 3 and 5 are odd numbers. Look at the first +, then looke down at the number one which is an odd number. follow the same find the order number. At last, we get the number as 6/15 = 2/5.

iii) A total of 5.

➝ Here, we have to find a total of 5. Look at the top numbers on line x, now look at the first +, now look down at the number 1 and when we add 3 with one will get 4 not 5. Do the same for number 2 and 1 on line x. At last, we get the number

  1. 3+2 = 5
  2. 2+3 = 5
  3. 1+4 = 5
