The grasses that grow in the Savanna are not directly suited for human consumption. Thus the early humans adopted a change in diet from a herbivore to a omnivore diet. They started relying more on meat as their primary food source. Living in open Savanna also presented the problem of shelters and protection from elements which may have resulted in early artificial shelters and even fire. The three challenges to early human all lead to similar evolutionary adaptation – a wider food source, change to a meat centric diet, bipedalism, forelimbs better suited to tool making. To be a better hunter and to compete with the existing, faster, more lethal predators required intelligence and group work, characteristics that separated humans from their ape cousins.AuthorBinuPosted onJuly 5, 2012CategoriesHistory, Master of Arts in HistoryTagsdiscovery, Early Humans, HistoryLeave a Reply
