Given : Max  Bob buys a bike on 15th March, 2016 (Tuesday). He is asked to bring the bike for servicing after 30 months.

To Find : Determine the day of the week on which the bike needs to be brought in for servicing.

Solution:

15th March, 2016  (Tuesday)  

After 30 months

15th Sep, 2018  

March in 2016 hence February  has already gone

2017 and 2018 are not leap year

a non leap year has 365 days = 52 * 7 + 1

Hence  15th March, 2018  =  Tuesday +  2 * 1

= Thursday  

Now from 15 March  to 15 sep

Days in March = 31 - 15 = 16

April = 30 , May = 31 , June = 30 , July = 31 , August = 31

Sept = 15

Total = 154

184 = 26 * 7  + 2

Hence Day on  15th Sep, 2018  = Thursday  + 2

= SATURDAY

Hence day of the week on which the bike needs to be brought in for servicing is SATURDAY
