He is known as the founder of the Maurya Empire which is one of the strongest and largest ever empires on the Indian subcontinent.
His reign was an era of great economic prosperity social reforms infrastructure developments legacy of which is followed by the descendant and following dynasties. There was a great flourish of every religion.
His life was greatly influenced by Chanakya who enriched him with knowledge of administration, military affairs, Vedas, etc and made him an able leader while enabling to overthrow the ruling Magadha dynasty thus establishing the Maurya dynasty.
His army comprised of soldiers from different parts. He succeeded in conquering many northwestern regions and southern parts, thus expanding his empire.
He placed the stepping stone of a strong and large dynasty which was overtime expanded and ruled by many famous rulers like Ashoka.
