Change active verbs to passive form where possible in the passage below and rewrite the passage:
Two to four players play the game. First deal seven cards to each player. The player to the left of the dealer starts the game. They lay down their highest card. Players in turn lay down a card, following suit. The player who places the highest card wins the round and collects the pile of cards. If they don’t have a card in the same suit, they don’t play in that round. Players replace their cards from the central pile. When the first player is out, because they have no more cards, the players count the number of piles each player has collected.

The game is played by two to four players. Each player first dealt with seven cards. The game starts with the player to the left of the dealer. The highest card is laid down by them. The following suit card is laid down by players in turn. The round is won by the player with the highest card and the pile of cards is collected by them. They cannot play in the round in which they do not have the same suit card. When the first player is out the cards are replaced by the central pile by players, because there are no more cards. Each player counts the number of piles collected by them.

Explanation:

  • When you change the object of a verb into the subject of the sentence a passive sentence is made.

  • It means, whatever the action is being done by anyone is not the grammatical topic of the sentence.

  • An active voice is when the subject in a sentence is more active and it does not need the support of the verb or object.
