During medieval period important changes occurred in Hinduism. For example, collective belief in supernatural powers was replaced by personal belief, new deities were worshipped, temples were constructed by royalty and the importance of Brahmans grew as, dominant groups in society. Their knowledge of Sanskrit texts and patronage of new rulers earned the Brahmans a lot of respect in society.
