Linear momentum is actually equal product of total mass and velocity of system or object . So linear momentum affected by both of these factors. Any one change directly cause the change in linear momentum . Mass is represented by "m" while the velocity by "v". On the other hand linear momentum usually represented by "p".
 So the linear momentum equals m*v .
