Change in momentum is given by force * time.

But why?

  • First of all, let's define force : Force is define is the \rm inst antaneous rate of change of momentum with respect to time.

  • Let change in momentum be ∆P, force be F and time be t.

So, mathematically, force is represented as:

F =  \dfrac{\Delta P}{t}

 \implies \Delta P = F \times t

So, change in momentum is actually the product of force and time.
