The price of tea in Assam depends on the demand and supply. This is how the price changes in the plucking and non- plucking season:

  • The plucking season is from march to november. During these months there is abundance of tea leaves. Due to this the price of tea is very low.
  • During the non-plucking season there is a shortage of leaves which leads to price hike of tea.
  • Many other factors effect the supply of tea leaves which includes weather, crop yield, quality and demands. The tea of Assam is not only a part of domestic markets but international markets as well.
  • The change in the price of tea differs from year to year.
