Indirect/Reported Speech refers to speech being said to a third person/reporting what happened to a third person.
Example: She said,"I like your dress." (Direct)
She said that she like my dress. (Indirect/Reported)
In the above example, when writing in indirect/reported form, the sentence changes according to its tense. Also, modifications regarding certain words like 'you' changes to 'I', 'yesterday' changes to 'the previous day', 'will' changes to 'would', 'can' changes to 'could' and many other words will have to be made.
My father said to me,"Go and bring some milk from the baazar." (Direct)
My father told me to get some milk from the baazar. (Indirect/Reported)
Hope it helps :)
