Hey there!

Sheena here!

So, in our English Grammar we have a topic called Reported speech.

Now What is Reported speech?

Let me explain with an example.

Let your name be C.

So, One day you see A and B having a conversation. There A says something to B. You had to tell D what was reported by A to B.

So, the way in which you will tell  D, that is Reported speech.

Before it was called Direct and Indirect and now also we are familiar with both the terms & know that they both mean the same.

Direct speech means which was directly told, i.e Whatever A said to B was direct.

Indirect speech means which is told by someone and you are reporting it to someone else i.e You reported D about A's conversation with B.

Coming to your question!

Question: Change into indirect speech. Ramesh said it is very cold today

So, before for the final answer let me tell you that When you write in Reported speech, the tense of the sentence gets changed.

Simple present gets changed to Simple Past

Simple Past to Past Perfect

Present Continuous to Past Continuous

Present Perfect to Past perfect.

When we change the tenses some words do get changed, for example: Yesterday changes to the previous day.

So Let me finally give the solution to your question!

Answer>>>>

Question: Ramesh said it is very cold today.

Answer: Ramesh said that it was very cold that day.

Here, Today changes to that day and as the sentence was in simple present tense, it changed to simple past tense.
