☆ Active voice: A sentence is said to be in active voice if it's subject performs the action to its object.

  • Structure – Subject + Verb + Object
  • Example – We will visit them tomorrow.

☆ Passive voice: The sentences where its subject receives the action from the object are said to be in passive voice.

  • Structure – Object + Helping verb + Verb 3 + by + Subject
  • Example – They will be visited by us tomorrow.

☆ To change a sentence from active voice to passive voice:

  1. The places of subject and the object must be interchanged with each other, while interchanging, pronominal changes also takes place, in a way that the subject pronoun changes to object pronoun.
  2. Then a suitable helping verb/ auxiliary verb have to be inserted according to the tense of the sentence.
  3. The form of the verb has to be changed to the third form, i.e, to the past participle form.
  4. The preposition "by" has to be inserted before the subject.
