Direct speech:-

Direct speech reports the exact words of the speaker.

Indirect speech:-

In the indirect speech what we report what the speaker said without quoting his/her words.

■ The exact words of the speaker are reported .

■ The words of the speaker are enclosed within inverted commas.

■ The introductory verb is said.

In the form of Indirect speech :-

■ The speaker of the words are reported by someone or something in his or her words.

■ Since, the exact words of the speaker are not reproduced, inverted commas are removed.

■The introductory verb is said or told
