The artist sings a song as he paints .

The above sentence is in Active Voice . In active voice the subject is of more importance than the object and hence is a placed at the beginning of the sentence by an object is found at the ending of the sentence . Mostly all the sentences we use our in active voice as they follow the simple methodology or order of subject + verb + object .

We can differentiate between Active and Passive voice on the basis of placement of subject and object and also with the use of preposition by as it is not included in any active voice sentences . The preposition by is used to denote how the subject has done the work .

How to change the voice ?

  • Identify the subject and object

  • Interchange their places

  • Add or remove the preposition by .

  • Dont change the tense

  • Use the past participle form of the the verb in passive voice .

Examples :

  • He is riding a horse . = A horse is being rode by him .

  • A song is sung by her . = She sings a song .
