Answer:

Past Continuous:

  • An experiment was being demonstrated by the teacher.

Simple Past:

  • The suspicious-looking man was questioned by the policeman.

Simple Past:

  • The result of the competition was declared by whom?

Simple Future:

  • My neighbours will be disturbed by the loud music.

Past Perfect:

  • The theorem had been explained clearly by his friend.

Golden Rules:

  • We can see clearly from the above sentences that when the verb is changed from active voice to passive voice, the object of the transitive verb in the active voice becomes the subject of the verb in the passive voice.

  • Only a transitive verb can be used in passive voice. An intransitive verbs have no object and, therefore has no passive voice.

  • When the verbs which have which take two objects after them in the active voice changed to the passive voice, one of the objects become the subject in the passive voice and the other is retained as object.

For example:

  • Active voice - He gave me a book.
  • Passive voice -
  1. A book was given to me by him.
  2. I was given a book by him.
