Answer

Phenolphthalein is an Artificial indicator of Acid , Base and Salts.

It remains colorless when added to any acid, Whereas changes to Dark pink when added with Base.

When Phenolphthalein is added to HCL (Hydrochloric acid) it remains to colorless, 'cause Hydrochloric acid is Acidic in nature and when Phenolphthalein is added to any Acid it remains colorless as mentioned above.

Take example of any base ( Milk of magnesia )

When its added to Phenolphthalein it changes to Dark pink as its nature is basic and a base.
