yes, combining DNA will obviously create a brand new unique double helix. there are occasionally mutations and undesirable characteristics (addiction, bipolar, schizophrenia, immune system vulnerabilties, oncological weakness etc...) but over time, human genes have been combining in such a way that every generation (so far) has been more intelligent, have better immune systems and we are getting taller! Just 300 years ago I would be considered a VERY BIG and tall man at 5'8", 175 lbs...now a lot of this is environmental, better food, better medicine, which are in turn a result of increasing intelligence, aptitude and physical well being. So w/ few exceptions...genetic changes are in FACT a good thing

Changes in the genetic make up is usually harmful to the organisms.
If an organism is forced to change irs genetic makeup then it become very much difficult and harmful fOr the organism as they will no linger have genes suited for their environment.
