I believe fruits and vegetables can be transported in cardboard crates rather than wooden crates. This is firstly because wood is very expensive, and the one used for crates also gets wet very easily,leading to wastage of wood.
Many wooden creates are shut using nails which are also dangerous during shipping.
Cardboard crates are cheaper, far more light and do not put huge strain on natural resources. They are also easily reusable, while wooden crates are heavy and can hardly be reused.
Cardboard crates will save loads of money to business people and also be good for the environment
