In Gulliver's Travels the laws and customs of Lilliput were very strange :

1. They wrote from one corner of the page to the other.

2. They buried the dead with their heads pointing directly downward. They believed that the world was flat and thought that the dead would rise again when the Earth was upside down.

3. Anyone who accused someone else of a crime against the state was put to death.

4. Children were raised not by individual parents but by the kingdom as a whole. Parents would see their children only twice a year.
