 \sf QUESTION -

Plot the points A(2,1) , B(-2,2) , C(-3,-6) and D (2,-3) in a rectangular coordinate system .

 \sf ANSWER -

Let XOX' and YOY' be the coordinate axes . Mark their point of intersection as O(0, 0). Starting from the origin O and using a convenient unit of length, mark equal distances on OX, OX', OY and OY', where distances along OX and OY are positive and distances along OX' and OY' are negative.

a. Starting from O, take +2 units on the x-axis and then take +1 unit on the y-axis to get the point A(2,1)

b. Starting from O, take -2 units on the x-axis and then take +2 units on the y-axis to get the point B(-2, 2).

c. Starting from O, take -3 units on the x-axis and then take -6 units on the y-axis to obtain the point C(-3, -6).

d. Starting from O, take +2 units on the x-axis and -3 units on the y-axis to obtain the point D(2, -3).
