Assumptions of kinetic theory of matter are:

(i) Matter consists of small particles called molecules.

(ii) The molecules are always in random motion.

(iii) The molecules attract one another with a force which decreases as the distance between them increases.

(iv) Molecules of a given substance are all alike and differ from the molecules of other substances.

(v) The kinetic energy of the molecules depends upon the temperature. It increases with the rise in temperature.

there are two imp. assumptions used in KTG

1St => a gas consists of very large numbers of molecule and these molecules are identical perfectly elastic and hard spheres

2nd => the molecules are so small that volume of molecule compared with the volume of container.
